Role Summary
The role of Data Analyst is responsible for breaking down complex datasets to draw conclusions and provide actionable insight to stakeholders. The successful candidate will assist in contributing to the clients overall Health and Wellbeing Strategy and must be well versed in descriptive and predictive analytics as well as presenting their findings to a non-technical audience.
You will apply your expert technical specialism in analytics to generate sophisticated insight about our clients' demographics and health status. This will have a major impact on business decisions such as developing new health and wellbeing services or targeting locations or job types for specific health interventions.
Using a range of analytical techniques and methods, tools, and approaches, you'll own and lead the generation of quantitative insights on people and health data. All methodologies must align to data protection principles for safeguarding health data.
You'll work with the Operations Manager, Occupational Health (OH) manager and other internal client teams to develop a data collection strategy and data analysis capability that answers business-critical questions and helps shape the overall health and wellbeing strategy for the client.
Reporting to the Operations Manager you will support the delivery of OH and medical leave of absence (MLOA) services through conducting exploratory analysis of a vast amount of data to identify features of interest, testing for significance, and presenting significant findings in presentations and reports.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Data collation; reconciling complex datasets.
- Exploratory data analysis
- Hypothesis testing based on findings from exploratory analysis.
- Use data to analyse existing business processes to identify alternative solutions and recommend new approaches for both internal and external Work cross functionally, liaising with the clients Wellness and Benefits leadership to set strategic agendas for population health management strategy with a particular focus on global and regional reporting and data analytics with cost outcomes for both.
- Be part of the client internal global data project team with the aim of standardising data reporting from multiple vendors, collate data sets, and produce digital dashboards to drive forward strategic decision making. Data programmes will include Alteryx and Tableau.
- Ability to develop ROI/VOI reporting for Wellness and Benefits programmes.
- Provide guidance and training to members of the operational team of the effective use of data and tools to drive improved business performance.
- Attend and lead on insights delivery and requirements gathering at specified client meetings.
- Work closely with the MI Team, sharing knowledge of tools, methodologies, and techniques to ensure best practice across the business.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly report creation, production, and analysis tasks according to priorities and schedules agreed with the Operations Manager and the rest of the business as well as ad hoc reporting as required by the client.
- Maintain existing data ingestion processes and power BI Dashboards / Datasets.
- In response to new business requirements develop further reporting functionality to facilitate the analysis and interpretation of the OH data to shape and drive OH agenda and Strategic Thinking.
Experience, skills and knowledge required for the role
- Advanced computer literacy including experience of using MS Excel to connect to external data sources and constructing large/complex data sets and able to present data through presentational packs
- Proficient in using Power Bi
- Understands HTML coding
- A background in statistical modelling and analysis is desirable
- An understanding of machine learning concepts is desirable
- Experience in working with R or Python is desirable
- Data visualisation for impact; storytelling with data
- Significant experience of analysing data from a range of sources
- Experienced in working with stakeholders to define hypotheses and relevant analytical approaches to test them
