Job description
Your primary purpose will be to provide administrative support to the Data Governance Manager and Data Quality Lead in relation to managing the day to day data governance practice. You’ll also learn about and support data quality assurance initiatives in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), working with colleagues to improve any gaps.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with all business areas within VWFS UK as well as collaborate with entities internationally to share learnings and best practice. If you’re new to the world of data governance, this could be the ideal first step for you.
This is what your day might look like:
- Support the Data Governance team with the tracking and reporting of data quality
- Assist in the investigation and rectification of data quality issues reported to the Data Governance team along with arranging sessions with the business for information gathering on these items
- Embed Data Governance best practice and control across data domain and other business critical functions
- Support training sessions delivered to IT colleagues and the wider business on Data governance rules and policies to ensure a strong culture and awareness of requirements.
- Manage the minutes and support the Data Governance Forum with ensuring all papers and agenda items are correct and published on a monthly basis.
- Support in the realisation of data ownership across the business and developing and maintaining these relationships in a BAU environment
- Support the implementation of data quality standards to ensure adoption of requirements across the enterprise and regular monitoring of specified data quality KPIs and dashboards
- Support the increase of maturity with the Company’s central database for IT assets (CMDB) to ensure critical data assets are maintained in the inventory and a robust process for updating these is implemented and quality checked.
- Responsible for ensuring data in CMDB is correct and up to date as well as working with the business to ensure new items through Quarterly planning are added where appropriate.

This is what you will bring to the role:
- Awareness of data governance frameworks
- Experience of managing and reporting to internal and external stakeholders at senior levels
- Good understanding of key UK and European regulatory and statutory requirements (FCA, BAFIN, GDPR / DPA).
- High level of motivation, flexibility, drive and personal commitment.
- Analytical with a good level of numeracy skills.
- Strong written and oral communication ability, coupled with good interpersonal skills.
- Able to prioritise multiple demands within a fast-paced environment.
- Organised with an ability to maintain high levels of accuracy
- Proactive and takes the initiative to plan ahead, identifying and resolving potential problems.
- An awareness of protocols when handling confidential and sensitive data.
- A keen interest in developing knowledge and general business awareness.

A salary ranging from £21-29k subject to experience and working 32 hours per week (exact working pattern can be discussed).
