Do you enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver flawless projects that make a difference?
About our Team
The Contact Domain Squad is part of the data and analytics team that provides business-critical services to all Elsevier business units. The team is responsible for the Marketing Data Platform which includes the standardisation, match and merge, and contact resolution routines, across upwards of 80 products. We are also building the campaign data mart used by campaign managers to support cross-channel marketing activity.
About the Role
You will play a key role ensuring we are delivering quality and accurate data to our internal customers. We are entering a new phase in the evolution of data platform design and architecture and progressing towards a data mesh paradigm. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction, scope, and delivery of the platform.
Responsibilities
  • Transforming the marketing data platform into a microservices architecture by designing and building the constituent marketing data products
  • Managing and providing technical leadership to a small team of engineers
  • Building metrics and rules to track data quality for key marketing attributes and drivers, aiming to improve customer experience and trust
  • Maintaining the data catalog to ensure data is consumable and easy to understand by a wide range of consumers so they can derive its value
  • Building dimensional data modelling to ensure it is interoperable and can be reused for extending other core data sets and entities
  • Working with internal cross-functional customers to understand data needs and provide guidance on data flows to ensure requirements are met
  • Engaging data engineering and architecture teams across Elsevier to showcase innovative solutions, and guide internal teammates on implementing best practices
Requirements
  • Offer good experience and current knowledge with our tech stack: Python, Snowflake, AWS, Git, and illustrate knowledge in DBT
  • Have knowledge of marketing domains, with emphasis on building data processing pipelines for verification, standardisation, and contact match and merge
  • Demonstrable experience building and managing technical teams, with a successful track record of setting and achieving ambitious objectives
  • Experience and fluency with master data management, data optimization and governance
  • Have good experience building scalable relational data models and schemas, combined with practical application of data structures and warehousing concepts
  • Have practical knowledge in Data Mesh and Data Products as well as Data Privacy Procedures
  • Be a great and effective communicator who can build trust and manage relationships with various stakeholders locally and globally
  • Be able to illustrate expertise with agile engineering practices such as TDD, Pair Programming, Continuous Integration, automated testing and deployment
  • Willing to work in our local London or Amsterdam office approximately 1-2 days per month
