Job Description:
Department: Data Management
The Data Management team plays a vital role in our organisation, transforming raw data into comprehensive and meaningful insights that can drive informed decision-making. Moreover the data management team is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust and efficient data model that ensures data is consistent and accurate across the organisation.
Position purpose
The Data Engineer provides a vital link between the Front Office and the Data Team, working very closely with end users (mainly traders and analysts) to understand their business requirements and translating raw data into comprehensive and meaningful insights that drive informed decision-making.
Main responsibilities
- Design ETL solutions to model and aggregate data based on business requirements, including data ingestion, data cleansing and data transformation and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and integrity throughout the process.
- Create automated data monitoring processes to identify and resolve data anomalies, inconsistencies, and errors to ensure high-quality data is available for analysis and reporting purposes.
- Enhance data completeness by enriching additional attributes to fill missing information, correcting inaccuracies, and to allow integration to the data model.
- Develop dashboards and data visualizations to effectively communicate findings and meaningful insights to stakeholders. Ensure that the information is presented in a clear, concise, and accessible manner to facilitate data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organisation.
- Act as SMEs and use in-depth expertise in the data domains and technological landscape for stakeholders and end users.
- Build and maintain a close relationship with traders and analysts in the Front Office, understand their objectives and ways of working in order to drive projects in a direction which caters to their needs.
- Build close relationships across the wider Data team, promoting the team values and creating a collaborative, efficient and welcoming environment.
- Participate in business forums to provide data advisory and conduct training sessions when needed
- Work proactively with the data community to better understand the data in the EDFT

Experience and technical requirements
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data modelling, as well as the main tools used in the market (ideally Alteryx)
- Experience in data analytics, statistics and data visualisation (Tableau or Power BI).
- Experience using one or more programming languages such as Python or C# is beneficial.
- A thirst for the latest technologies and automation coupled with a curiosity to research and innovate on new approaches
- Interest in energy trading and willingness to work across the business on understanding the needs of different teams
