The role will cover the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Data Centre, ensuring all Data Centre support functions are performed to Capita TSS Service standards.
This role does require a full driving licence and the eligibility to undergo SC Clearance.
What you’ll be doing:
Enforce Data Centre standards and working practices
To have a good understanding of Data Centre environments
Identify, audit and manage all systems within the data centre
Take ownership and responsibility for risk management within the DC Operations remit and mitigate risks as appropriate
Manage all Installs, Moves, Adds and Changes (IMAC’s) to Data Centre Infrastructure
Collate Capacity Statistics and Management Information as required
To provide support during data centre installations
To provide support during fibre structured cabling installations
Create change controls and agree the implementation stages with the appropriate teams
Asset management and Inventory monitoring and upkeep
Update Stock level control and replenish
To provide support to customers during Data Centre visits
To provide remote hands support and service on equipment as required
Ensure the data centre is clean and tidy and free from Health & Safety hazards
To assist with other general data centre duties as directed
Ensure all issues are escalated accordingly and recorded accurately
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key IT Services lines of service
Proactively communicate and identify areas for improvement within the site and ensure progress to implement the improved process
Additional responsibilities - Complete any other appropriate ad hoc tasks as directed by your manager
Provide On-call support for P1 issues out of hours and at the weekend as required
What we’re looking for:
Able to work occasionally on weekends or out of hours
A demonstrable and strong working experience in a data centre or telecommunication field
Experience of installation of rack mountable equipment
Good level of knowledge about Data Centre Operation and Management procedures
Experience or ability of developing and documenting operational processes
Good level of knowledge about data centre power distribution and cooling systems
Good level of knowledge about monitoring the data centre environment and critical assets
Working knowledge of the technical requirements and builds of Data Centres
Working knowledge of networking topologies (Layer 1 & Layer 2)
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and experience of supervising others
Ability to logically and methodically think through problems.
Detail focussed when completing records, tickets and supporting documentation
Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
Strong team player
Full driving licence
