We are looking for a Application Developer/Data Engineer to join BrokerLink and work out of our Toronto, ON Office on a Permanent FT Basis.
What the Role Entails:
- Coding to develop or enhance systems or applications to business requirements and technical specifications, resulting in solutions that meet users' needs.
- Contribute to project lifecycle: provide estimates concerning work to be done; deliver programming, testing, debugging and documentation; meet deadlines and communicate status.
- Offer technical expertise in requirements analysis and solution to ensure the solution is both fit for purpose and use, with scalability and maintenance in mind.
- Design and execute acceptance testing to improve quality and reduce risk of the developed application.
- Proactively identify and communicate obstacles that would inhibit completing a task in the estimated time allotted. Plan remediation with revised estimates.
- Ensure systems are performing optimally and meet quality standards by regularly assessing and analyzing, offering proposals or suggestions, and deploying updates.
- Provide on-going 3rd level support of applications to reduce the impact of defects and related incidents.
- Actively pursue continuous learning to recommend and participate in development lifecycle and maintenance process improvements.
The Successful candidate will have:

- Post-Secondary Education in Technology
- Microsoft certification preferred
- A minimum of 3 years experience working with Microsoft Technology stack
- Experience and knowledge with data warehousing concepts and practices, multidimensional modeling, ETL, Business Intelligence development
- Strong experience with Spark, Databricks, SQL, Python (a must)
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, PowerShell scripting
- Experience with Cloud computing platforms such as Azure. Google Cloud development is considered an asset
- Experience with .NET Framework, C# development
- Experience with developing RESTful API, Web Services
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- P&C Insurance background (nice to have)
