Job Description


We are excited to offer the role of Data engineer in our Product Engineering team at an established local music publishing company. Our business has grown rapidly, generating a wealth of data that is crucial to every aspect of our operations. As a result, we are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to focus on the challenges that come with managing such a vast amount of information. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a vital role in shaping the future of our popular music publishing product data estate, especially as we integrate with one of the biggest trading names in the global digital music industry.

  • Ensuring product data quality i.e. by applying processes aligned to DAMA Data Quality Dimensions.
  • Documenting data pipelines and driving continuous improvement aligned with our long-term strategy.
  • Automating pipelines to increase efficiency.
  • Providing advice on product and infrastructure architecture as part of the holistic product data quality landscape.
  • Supporting database performance and enhancements.
  • Implementing observability and metrics for continuous monitoring of product data performance and health indicators.
  • Acting as a bridge by fostering relationships between the Product and Data Science functions across the mission to design and promote shared methodologies to take data-informed decisions across R&D.
  • Designing, implementing and maintaining high-quality datasets, data pipelines and workflows in collaboration with other teams.

Qualifications

  • A strong desire to do good in the music industry and support the business to deliver on our values.
  • Experience working with data quality practices and a passion to raise awareness of their importance with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Deep knowledge of RDBMS platforms and cloud data technology, particularly AWS Aurora, MySQL, and Athena, as well as experience with Elastic, Solr and caching platforms.
  • Experience in applying data quality governance, including GDPR/privacy compliance with DPIAs, access controls, and backup/HADR policies.
  • Knowledge of continuous delivery and continuous testing practices.
  • Expertise in data languages, including SQL, Python and JavaScript,
  • Experience building and optimising data pipelines that ingest and integrate huge volumes of data across multiple sources.
  • Experience of BI tools including Power BI and QuickSight, with knowledge of DAX and Power Query M as an advantage.
  • Knowledge of music industry data structures and formats, including CWR and DDEX, is a significant advantage, although full training in this area will be provided
