Job description
Working as an Engineering Apprentice at our Data Centres, whilst gaining appropriate technical qualifications over circa 3 years, you will learn from experts in their field within Data Centre Management. The latter responsible for managing, and delivering, infrastructure that is integral to the availability of systems and services utilised by HSBC customers and colleagues.
The role will be based at one of our critical UK Data Centre facilities. These are major sites that include highly sensitive and critical data processing environments, offices and complex engineering systems.
Candidates will be part of a team of Data Centre Engineers responsible for ensuring the integrity of Mechanical and Electrical services 24x7x365.
The Engineering Team have the experience and technical skills to ensure that all critical engineering services are operated, maintained, tested and upgraded as technology advances. The installation of electrical and/or mechanical services also forms part of role deliverables. The team are also responsible for the monitoring and management of specialist third parties working within critical environments.
The successful candidates will provide all necessary support across a variety of activities and will follow a training programme which will include attendance at Barnsley College. Roles will be based at our Barnsley and Wakefield locations respectively. It is expected that in order for the successful candidates to attain the required skills, knowledge and experience that an element of cross site travel will be required. However, this will be on an infrequent basis. The successful candidates will also be required to attend Barnsley College as part of the Apprenticeship Training Programme.
Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Training Programme, and in the interim to gain additional experience, Shift Working will be required and is based upon providing 24x7x365 operational support. Additional technical training with formal qualifications will be provided by HSBC to facilitate role deliverables and to meet personal development objectives.
The successful candidates for this role must have:
