Job description
Nebula Block is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks related to data center operations, including equipment installation, testing, troubleshooting, and inventory management.
Responsibilities:
1. Installation, Testing:
- Install and test servers and networking equipment in the data center.
- Know about server cabinets and PDU.
- Properly run internet cables and power cords.
- Independently mount server rails or collaborate with others when needed.
- Install servers with the assistance of others or using a server lifter.
2. Knowledge of cable and Equipment:
- Understand different categories of copper cables and single or multi-mode fiber cables.
- Have familiarity with SFP modules.
3. Linux System Installation:
- Be experienced in installing Linux systems, including CentOS and Ubuntu, using USB drives.
4. Server BIOS Settings:
- Configure server BIOS settings, such as modifying boot options, blinking the hard drive, or checking hardware information.
5. RAID Configurations:
- Understand and implement various RAID levels.
- Possess familiarity with RAID controllers.
6. Basic Networking Knowledge:
- Have a fundamental understanding of network equipment, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Identify console ports on network devices.
7. Software:
- Experienced in using software like PuTTY to establish connections to servers.
8. Hardware Troubleshooting:
- Ability to test and troubleshoot basic network problems, such as broken fiber, SFP module issues, or network card malfunctions.
- Capable of inserting or removing RAM on the motherboard as per requirements.
- Competent in installing CPUs on the motherboard.
Requirements:
- Prior experience working in a data center environment or similar role.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel for stock counting and management.
- Strong technical skills in telecom and networking equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Linux systems installation, specifically CentOS and Ubuntu.
- Familiarity with server BIOS settings and RAID configurations.
- Basic understanding of network equipment, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Experienced in using PuTTY software and checking Device Manager for server connectivity.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic network problems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
