Job Description – Fibre Engineer

We are looking for a hard-working Data Cabling Engineer to work with the installations and planning department installing networks and cabling to existing and new large corporate companies.
The Role:
Reporting to the Field Manager you will install, connect, and test optical fibre cable across the Various Southern Data Centres.
Typical Deliverables
- Installing fibre optic cabling
- Installing fibre termination/customers routers
- Termination and splicing of fibre optic cables
- Power and OTDR testing
- Fault finding
- Installation and commissioning of active equipment
- Reporting progress daily via in house systems
- Some overnight stays required depending on workload
- Adhering to safe working practices.
The Requirements:
· Worked with project managers to complete network build & installations to specific deadlines.
· Completed inspections to ascertain whether anything is preventing a successful installation.
· Worked with design schematics and works instructions.
· Have a minimum of 4-year experience of fibre splicing and testing
· Hold a current trade card (ECS/CSCS/EUSR)
· Have flexibility around working hours, including night work and overtime
· Willing to work within different locations over the UK staying away
· Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure paying good attention to detail
· Self-motivated and able to take initiative, self-manage workload without supervision
· CSCS (desirable)
· Driving license
