The Role
Social Work England are the specialist regulator for social work in England, focused on enabling positive change in social work. Our data and insight team is a small, supportive team that sits within the people and business support directorate. The data and insight team is central to and serves the whole organisation providing valuable information and insights. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining reports to support decision making across the business.
Our analyst will help to develop and implement our analytical projects, supporting the senior analyst to deliver our data and insight strategy and contribute to the successful delivery of our business plan and strategy. You will collaborate across the entire organisation, helping managers and senior leaders understand and get value from their data.
What you will do
- Work with the senior analyst to contribute to the development and implementation of effective analysis to support the evaluation of our activity and delivery of our data and insight strategy.
- Work in close collaboration with key stakeholders across the organisation to support our cohesive approach to producing, sharing and using data and insight.
- Analyse data to identify patterns and trends and provide insightful recommendations to managers and senior leaders.
- Identify reporting requirements for regular or ad-hoc analysis and work with the senior Analyst to develop specifications for complex reports in Power BI and Excel, reviewing and validating these reports to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Produce monthly reporting packs to describe organisational performance and inform management and senior leadership decision-making.
- Work across the organisation, at all levels, to ensure all stakeholders can access the data they need, when they need it, and understand it clearly.
- Implement data governance and quality assurance processes for the data and insight team, ensuring the accuracy and quality of our data and our outputs.
Your skills and knowledge
- Significant experience of turning raw data into meaningful insight in a work environment using advanced statistical analysis techniques and evaluation methodologies.
- Experience of developing and using analytical tools and reports in a work environment using Power BI and Excel. Experience of SPSS is also desirable.
- A good understanding of how research, analysis and evaluation informs organisational decision making and business planning processes.
- Educated to degree level in a subject involving quantitative analysis and research methodologies, or relevant professional equivalent.
- Experience of supporting the design and delivery of high-quality analytical projects.
- Ability to develop and implement effective solutions to analytical problems using creative and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate complex ideas and key findings from complex analytical work.
- The ability to work autonomously and on own initiative, whilst also being able to work collaboratively to achieve team success.
- A proven role model for respectful, open and honest behaviour including a demonstrable commitment to equality and diversity in service delivery.

- Working pattern: Full time. We offer flexible working subject to business needs.
- Salary: £29,871 rising to 32.005 after successful completion of a 6-month probationary period.
