Babcock International and Devonport


The Data and Information Manager role is based within our Devonport Royal Dockyard business area.


Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.

The role


The difference our new Data and Information Manager will make:
As the Data and Information Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary, working at the heart of Babcock Nuclear’s submarine business. You will be part of a friendly, high performing and integrated team who together provide critical strategic awareness and planning services into the wider business.


Day to day, you’ll be working collaboratively with our team of data science and project staff to developing frameworks for data management, gather and manage data and understand its application in delivery of the UKs submarine programme.

Essential experience


  • Demonstratable data management skills and strong knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Good numeracy and an eye for accuracy when recording written and numeric assumptions.
  • Good interpersonal skills to gather data from the business, a questioning mind to check and validate data sources and the ability to understand and manage the interrelation and criticality of information.
  • Relevant academic or vocational background.
  • Excellent team working and willing to proactively engage with people at all levels of the wider business to support outputs.
