We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our growing Data Science team within the Research and Analysis group. This is a hybrid role and can be based in either our Cardiff, Birmingham, or London office.
The team
We are a diverse, multidisciplinary team producing high quality research and data analysis to support evidence-based regulatory policy making.
We use robust, cutting-edge analytic methods to make sure our analysis is accurate and has real impact. We provide on-the-job training to develop your programming skills and your knowledge of the latest statistical and data science methods.
The role
As a Data Analyst you will provide data management support to the team and produce high quality reports of your own involving the analysis of large volumes of regulatory data. The types of projects you will be contributing to include: using artificial intelligence to identify law firms at risk of money laundering and fraud, developing natural language processing tools to analyse legal documents, and combining law firm data with socio-economic indicators to determine if there are ‘legal advice deserts’ in some areas of England and Wales.
Your analytical reports will be of the highest quality as you will be sharing the findings with senior management. You will be a good communicator able to present complex data analysis in an accessible way to be understood by non-technical audiences.

- experience a diverse and interesting role, covering a wide range of data on the legal services market have opportunities to learn advanced statistical techniques including machine learning, natural language processing, and geospatial analysis.

What we are looking for
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (Science, Mathematics, Engineering or other relevant discipline and/or relevant experience)
- Previous experience of managing large data sets
- Experience of programming (eg Python or R)
- Ability to carry out statistical analysis (eg ANOVA, t-tests, correlation, Chi Squared)
- Ability to write and present data analysis reports
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

This is a hybrid role and will be based in our Birmingham, Cardiff or London office 1 to 2 days a week, and from home the rest of the week. This role may also give you the chance to travel occasionally to work with colleagues in our other offices.
The salary offer for this role will be £42,075 for London based and £38,250 for Birmingham or Cardiff based.
