Salary: Scale SO1, £31,434 - £33,348 per annum (plus £1000 market supplement)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

The Corporate Insights Analysis Team
Our team is responsible for long term strategic workforce forecasting and analysis. This places insight into the hands of those delivering our service to empower and support strategic decision-making to develop the workforce flexibility, capability and the inclusivity required to adapt to the changing operating environment.
We create regular reports, briefings to strategic management boards and bespoke analytical products which assist the force in understanding if we have the workforce and processes in place to service our demand.
Analytical support is in demand in HIOWC and increasing each year. We utilise tools such as PowerBI, Business Objects, Excel, models and our skills with data to provide the force with the insight to make decisions.
We focus on topics such as:
- Long term resource forecasting
- Crime and Incident forecasting
- Workforce insights into available resourcing and budget
- Diversity, including gender pay gap reporting, ethnicity pay gap reporting and protected characteristics analysis
- Workforce availability, skills and utilisation assessed against demand.
In summary, we try to understand our workforce, the demand we face and the ability of those resources to meet that demand by analysing the impact of attrition, sickness, training, recruitment and organisational processes. We also undertake ad hoc projects which assist the Constabulary in understanding issues and emerging risks.
What you will do:
Our Data Analyst will work with the team to produce the above in addition to having their own bespoke data projects. You will be responsible for the team’s data management, ensuring the data used is exported from data sources accurately, stored, and maintained for use in a variety of analytical products. You will be a point of contact for the team to assist in obtaining the necessary data and utilising it in a variety of analytical products and required statutory reporting.
This position is suitable for someone who enjoys problem solving and working with complex datasets. Ideally, they will also have experience with Business Objects, PowerBI and Excel at an advanced level.

Job Purpose
The successful candidate will ensure data and business intelligence products are developed, managed and published so it can be used for decision making to meet the wide range of challenges the force faces. Critical in helping Hampshire Constabulary with their purpose of making ‘You, Your Family, and Our Communities Safer’.
Key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
1. Liaise with data users to gather and document requirements for data reporting.
2. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and other data products to meet user needs including ITD Analysts
3. Conduct quality assurance of their own and team member’s work, providing leadership in the team and support and assurance to the work of Data Coordinators.
4. Enable the completion and validation of statutory and non-statutory data requirements.
5. Provide expertise in Data Management, including through maintaining data flows, mappings and dictionaries.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with key colleagues in Public Access and Information Management teams to ensure data management meets required standards.
7. Enable the maintainance and development of Hampshire Constabulary’s Home Office Data Hub (HODH) extract in accordance with Home Office and legislative requirements.
8. Give regular and effective service.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 6 OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience
Ability to understand and present complex data for a range of internal and external audiences.
Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure, possessing good time management skills.
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, with proven experience of forming and maintaining internal and external relationships.
Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills. Previous experience of, or trained in the use of, data extraction or visualisation tools.
Experience using Management Information tools and working in a statistical/analytical environment preferably working with both structured and unstructured data.
Knowledge and experience of developing user/customer requirements into technical specifications with a working knowledge of relevant data architectures.
Desired Experience
- PowerBI reporting and dashboard creation
- Business Objects data retrieval
- Advanced Excel skills.
