Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Master Data Analyst or Senior Master Data Analyst located at the York Operations Center in York, NE, the Columbus General Office in Columbus, NE, or the Kearney Operations Office in Kearney, NE. Position closes July 30 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

Position Summary

The Master Data Analyst performs varied work assignments with direct supervision in all areas of Master Data. Primary responsibilities include managing transmission, subtransmission, and distribution master data facility data and records in SAP, including Functional Locations and Equipment Masters.


The Senior Master Data Analyst is responsible for all the duties of the Master Data Analyst and is additionally responsible for working independently to administer and improve assigned Master Data process responsibilities through design and development of Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) system, as well as revision and improvement of process documents and methods. This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and improving the tools used by the organization for managing transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution master data facility data and records in SAP, including Functional Locations and Equipment Masters. The incumbent will serve as an advisor to modify business processes within and outside of SAP, provide assistance in troubleshooting errors, support software updates, and has a general understanding of work management and configuration processes which affect Master Data.



The incumbent's placement into the Master Data Analyst or the Senior Master Data Analyst will be determined based on education and applicable experience. The Senior Master Data Analyst position is a career path advancement based on performance and business need.

Education, Training and Experience

Master Data Analyst:


Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, finance, information technology, accounting or business or related field plus one year of related experience; or Associate's degree in related field, or related field plus 3 years of related experience; or a High School diploma and 5 years of related experience.



Senior Master Data Analyst:


Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, economics, finance, information technology, accounting or business or related field and five years of related experience; or Associate degree in related field and seven years of related experience, or high school diploma and 10 years of related experience required.


Experience:

Nuclear or non-nuclear experience in the areas of continuous improvement, corrective action, performance monitoring (performance indicators), and/or database manipulation. Demonstrated decision-making, problem-solving, and data analysis skills. Preferred experience with NPPD’s SAP system as well as demonstrated proficiency in other computer programs i.e., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, or Electric Office. Experience in areas of quality assurance, operations, maintenance, or training. Familiarity with utility practices, technical analytics, or operational metrics is required.


Technical process analysis experience is preferred including the use of computers and software such as Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint to perform analytics, queries, and database processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Master Data Analyst:


Maintain and develop data standards techniques used to maintain transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution master data facility data and records in SAP, including Functional Locations and Equipment Masters. Utilize computer and software to compile and prepare reports, charts, and graphs of data developed. Prepare assigned monthly reports.


Consistently demonstrate an independent, clear understanding & initiative in developing specific analytical tools & applications to support the Transmission and Distribution business plan expectations. Be able to interpret results & their potential effects on successfully achieving the business plan.


Responsibilities include creating functional and technical specifications for reviewing information, data, drawings, and facility maps as required for data completeness and accuracy.


Produce various SAP reports. Reports include but are not limited to: SAP notifications, SAP orders, SAP networks, Equipment, Functional Location, and Classification data. Incumbent must be capable of updating data in the system.


Assist ET (Enterprise Technology) with SAP testing for new processes and upgrades.


Senior Master Data Analyst:


In addition to the responsibilities of the Master Data Analyst, the Senior Master Data Analyst essential duties and responsibilities include the following:


Provide subject matter expertise to the business unit and coordinate with other business areas to ensure the SAP data, and analytical tools that use this data accurately support business processes. Provide the functional support of the same tools and applications by accurately entering and verifying Master Data, verifying the successful functioning of the tools and applications, assisting with troubleshooting these tools and applications, ensuring workflow designs associated with the tools and applications are functioning correctly, and, if necessary, working with technical support to resolve the errors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Continued)

Incumbent must compile and prepare reports, charts, and graphs of self-developed data. Presentations and reports must be completed to a professional level independently.


Assist IT with SAP testing for new processes and upgrades. Including creating test scripts, performing functional and technical analysis, and planning and executing testing. Also includes monitoring performance, maintaining testing files, managing changes and troubleshooting issues.


Analyze and troubleshoot more complex issues that Master Data Analyst is not able to resolve. Provide support for all SAP related Master Data, including answering questions, troubleshooting issues or problems with the data or data entry, and assisting with consulting and training for SAP Master Data related areas. Assist in the development of training material related to SAP Master Data in collaboration with business unit staff and end users. Resolve customer questions, complaints, and requests that may involve policy interpretation. Follow-up on customer inquiries and perform research to assure satisfactory resolution. Take initiative on driving consistency throughout the organization in regard to technical policies and procedures, including internal and external user groups and/or improvement project teams. Communicate with users, as needed, to resolve issues with data delivery and data quality.


Review business unit guidelines, procedures, and processes on a routine basis to ensure accuracy and provide feedback to supervision. Ensure all policies and procedures impacting the organization are documented in procedural format.


Develop extraction techniques and standards for information & data from various District information & data systems including, but not limited to SAP, Electric Office, Aspen, and ERD for purposes of compiling data to develop applications to prepare, update, maintain, and distribute information and reports relative to applicable studies and operational functions, which require a basic understanding of key business processes and technology such as system integration and interfaces Provide SME business process and functional system expertise to the organization.

Pay Grade:

Master Data Analyst - Non-exempt Pay Grade 9

Senior Master Data Analyst - Exempt Pay Grade 11

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:

Non-Exempt Pay Grade 9 - $4,433-$5,249 Monthly

Exempt Pay Grade 11 - $5,552-$6,575 Monthly


Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
