This is an exciting opportunity to join a team focused on building a strong data culture within London Market and directly informing and shaping our Data Management activities.
Our vision is to enable profitable decisions driven by trusted data and market leading analytics. We are looking for an individual that has a strong attention to detail and enjoys the application of rules and logic and use of new tools and technologies.
This role will have an immediate impact to the way data is identified, governed, transformed, trusted and consumed by London Market. The Data Operations Analyst will work alongside the Data Strategy Programme, Data Squad Engineers and data owners in delivering through an agile framework, these capabilities in an agile and responsive manner.
Principal responsibilities within this role will include:
- Work across a diverse group of data consumers in London Market to identify and capture data requirements, associated ownership, definitions, transformations and controls using standard terms in the LM Data Dictionary.
- Work with data producers to understand and catalogue the data held in their systems and how the needs of data consumers can be met.
- Curate and prepare existing data assets, ensuring timely and accurate processing from a raw state to a trusted, validated and enriched state.
- Capture and maintain records, reference data, rules and processes for data cleansing, transformation, enrichment and data quality for curated data and specify requirements to data engineers.
- Maintain the written Data Governance and Data Operations policies, standards, processes and guidance.
- Produce key control indicator reports and perform and record root cause analysis on data quality issues.
- Be a core member in the team delivering the Data Strategy, working in an agile methodology, to deliver trusted governed data for the business.

Knowledge, skills and experience we expect you to have to fit into this role will include:
- Ability to elicit and record data requirements, definitions and data quality rules for data assets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to clearly and concisely support the writing and maintenance of data policies, standards, guidance, data definitions and data governance reports.
- Ability to understand, consolidate disparate information sources into summary metrics
- Ability to create and maintain Tableau and Power BI dashboards
- Good records management skills covering version control and publication.
- Strong ability in Excel; curiosity with programming languages such as SQL, Python.
- Ability to pro-actively investigate issues to determine their root cause.
- Self motivated, task driven and with a strong attention to detail and quality in every aspect of work.
If you have been exposed to any of the following it would be highly desirable to bring the following to Hiscox:
- Prior experience of Lloyd’s of London delegated authority business and / or bordereaux capture systems such as DDM (DA SATS)
- Prior experience in data management
- Previous experience managing metadata records including data dictionary and data cataloguing
- Previous experience working in agile projects
