Salary: Scale SO1, £31,434 - £33,348 per annum (plus a market supplement of £1000 per annum)
Hours: 37.00 hours per week, flexible working applications and part time will be considered.

The Data Analytics Team is part of our Analysis Command and is a dynamic unit which provides vital reporting and data analysis capability to all levels within Hampshire Constabulary; engaging with stakeholders and working to deadlines to deliver for customers. About the role
What do we mean by data? This will be varied and you will be involved in a range of analytical data work across all themes of Policing from crime affecting Hampshire’s residents, understanding how we Police our communities ethically and effectively as well as analysing demand on our resources. You will be crucial in completing Home Office returns, understanding our crime and outcomes, mapping where crime is occurring and understanding our workforce. It is about collecting, exploiting, assessing and interpreting a range of overt and covert information sources, delivering valuable, influential data analysis enabling the Force to understand their performance.
As a Data Analyst, you will enable access to data through data extraction and data visualisation by identifying and understanding what data customers require, then, commission and build reports within Microsoft PowerBI/Business Objects and provide these to customers to meet the wide range of challenges that the Constabulary faces.
Knowledge of PowerBI or Business Objects will be beneficial however training will be provided to successful candidates.
Flexibility and creativity in your thinking are key, as is a keen interest in data analysis, taking ownership to develop and learn a variety of topics and being innovative in how you solve problems. You will be a vital part of a multi-faceted team, you will need strong collaboration and negotiation skills, plus a talent for communicating clearly and concisely.
Importantly, you will be someone who can build the bigger picture from the tiny nuggets of information you will unearth to support Hampshire Constabulary’s Purpose of making ‘You, Your Family, and Our Communities Safer’.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1. Liaison with key stakeholders to gather and document requirements for data reporting.
2. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards and other data products to meet user needs including ITD Analysts
3. Conduct quality assurance of their own and team member’s work, providing leadership in the team and support and assurance to the work of Data Coordinators.
4. Enable the completion and validation of statutory and non-statutory data requirements.
5. Provide expertise in Data Management, including through maintaining data flows, mappings and dictionaries.
6. Develop and maintain relationships with key colleagues in a variety of departments throughout Hampshire Constabulary to ensure data management meets required standards.
7. Enable the maintainance and development of Hampshire Constabulary’s Home Office Data Hub (HODH) extract in accordance with Home Office and legislative requirements.
8. Give regular and effective service.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 6 OR work experience deemed to have brought the postholder to a comparable level.
Essential Experience
1. Ability to manage and understand complex datasets using MS Excel Pivot Tables or equivalent software
2. Ability to understand, visualise and present complex data for a range of internal and external audiences.
3. Good literacy, numeracy and computer skills. Previous experience of, or trained in the use of, data extraction or visualisation tools.
4. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, with proven experience of forming and maintaining internal and external relationships.
5. Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure, possessing good time management skills.
6. Experience using Management Information tools and working in a statistical/analytical environment preferably working with both structured and unstructured data.
7. Knowledge and experience of developing user/customer requirements into technical specifications with a working knowledge of relevant data architectures.
Desirable Experience
