Role
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity that contributes directly to shaping economic decisions in Alberta? Do you enjoy uncovering and telling stories with data? Jobs, Economy and Northern Development is looking to fill Economic Data Analyst positions within our Economic Data and Analytics Branch.
You will be responsible for analyzing and communicating trends on Alberta's economy to support evidence-based decision-making in policy development and to support the data needs of Alberta's business, investment, and economic development communities.
Functioning as part of a highly collaborative team, you will provide support in building and maintaining a variety of economic information products, including web-based data applications, presentations and briefings, and analytical models. You will have a solid understanding of Alberta’s economy and its industries as well as strong skills in analyzing data and communicating results through visualizations and in written form. You enjoy learning new skills and technologies.
You will have the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships stakeholder groups to maintain an awareness of their perspectives and data needs. Your strong data/economics background and self-driven approach will make you the ideal fit.
Qualifications
- A university degree in economics, business, or a related field.
- A minimum of two years related experience in data and/or economic analysis; or equivalent as described below.
Assets:
- A master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with programming languages such as R, JavaScript, or Python.

Salary
$2,588.06 to $3,397.76 bi-weekly ($67,548.37 to $88,681.54 yearly)
Notes
These are a permanent positions in Edmonton and hours of work are Monday to Friday - 36.25 hours per week.
