JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Operational Data Analyst and Epic Liaison will collect, define, develop and maintain reports as defined by the assigned Department(s). This position will perform as a technical interface between the Department and key business stakeholders to define, collect and synthesize data from various technical platforms to promote and ensure efficiency. In addition, the Data Analyst and Epic Liaison will provide analytical support to develop and track new initiatives with respect to clinical care and the improvement of both patient health and patient satisfaction.
Additional key responsibilities include:
- Create simple to moderately complex benchmarking metrics to assess system performance.
- Data gathering, defining specifications development and documentation and record keeping.
- Support multiple concurrent work efforts
- Educates and coaches other team members, and works with minimal supervision in support of team initiatives.
- Works as a member of a specific application and administrative team as well as with other application and technical teams.
- Develops and documents the internal procedures that will be used in conjunction with applications.
- Conducts special studies and projects in support of the departments’ analytical and information needs.
Education
Bachelor's degree in related field and at least four years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience
- 3 to 5 years operational experience in a clinical or healthcare business operations setting or 3 to 5 years’ experience in Information Technology
- General understanding of the work flows in clinical or healthcare business operations
- Experience gathering and helping define operational requirements
- Experience developing reports, dashboards to support the organizational needs
- Epic Reporting Workbench and Radar experience preferred
- SQL syntax and process of writing queries experience preferred
- Experience with correlating health data that includes CPT and ICD coding
- Experience with Advanced Microsoft Office Excel or comparable skills, including the use of pivot tables
- Experience with data visualization tools such as SAP Lumira preferred

- Technology: Advanced skills to operate/utilize spreadsheet tools, and personal productivity applications and EPIC software. Knowledge and experience with the following technologies is preferred: SAP Business Objects BI Web Intelligence, dashboards and universe design; MS-SQL; and Epic Cogito data sources and tools including the Epic Cogito DW (Caboodle).
- Analytics: Must understand reports and related detail; able to use and understand department-specific reports and budget reports. Data savvy and able to analyze, interpret and report back key themes and make recommendations.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Experience with implementing clinical and/or healthcare business information systems in a large-scale and complex healthcare organization
- Epic certification in the module(s) being represented
- Experience in Epic installations
- Knowledge of the current healthcare environment preferred
- Experience in developing business and/or clinical workflows related to the assigned application module
Licensures, Certifications
Required to complete and pass certification in assigned Epic application module(s) within 120 days of employment in this role

Working Conditions
- Working conditions are that of a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, and unfavorable temperatures. Includes on-call responsibility for Systems support
Conditions of Employment
- 12 month work commitment post Epic certification
- Maintain Epic certifications as required
