Job description

ERM is seeking a motivated Statistical, Data Management, and GIS Consultant with a M.Sc. in statistics to join our office in Vancouver, BC. The ideal candidate will assist Project Managers and Consultants on a variety of Environmental, Social & Health Impact Assessment projects to support the full range of focused sectors. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide statistical support on environmental assessment (EA) and environmental impact statement (EIS) projects and related activities in support of ERM clients’ domestic and international development projects (e.g., oil and gas, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable/alternative energy, and Brownfields projects).
  • Build data visualizations through tools such as R, Python, Excel or other software
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and visualizations of both simple and complex datasets
  • Employ statistical methodology to identify, model and interpret trends and relationships, cluster, classify and predict outcomes of interest in environmental data
  • Communicate and explain quantitative findings to internal staff and external clients (chemists, biologists, ecologists, and other non-specialists)
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports clearly describing methodology and uncertainty associated with the results of the analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement of ongoing reporting and analysis processes through automation and application of rigorous statistical methods
  • Stay abreast of innovations in analytics and data science tools and techniques
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Managing qualitative and quantitative data sets
  • Administration of content management systems and other backend tools to support web-based product and service development and delivery
  • Developing in a low-code tech stack such as bubble.io, knack.com, and Wordpress
  • Managing PowerBI dashboards
  • Supporting application development through project management, UI/UX design and development, and other activities as skills and tasks warrant
  • Prioritizing workload to meet deadlines
  • Effectively communicating with the DAV group, project teams, and laboratories
  • Administering cloud-based data storage products to facilitate ingress and egress of both structured and non-structured data
  • Performing features comparison research to identify novel solutions to service delivery and product design
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Degree in a related field
  • Proficient analytical skills
  • Thorough understanding of data science and data manipulation techniques
  • Strong ability to interpret analytical results and transform into a ready deliverable
  • Knowledge of advanced statistics, including study design, statistical modelling, and multivariate data analysis
  • Experience using R, Python or other programming or scripting language
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, maintain flexibility, and work effectively independently with minimal supervision and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated attributes to become a strong consultant – team player, eagerness to learn and grow, self-starter who takes initiative, versatile, and service-oriented mentality.
  • Possess ability to pick up on use of a low-code tech stack, including but not limited to: bubble.io, knack.com, sendgrid.com
  • Possess strong writing skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 suite
  • Strong abilities in one or several of the following:
    • Sequel database
    • Earthsoft EQuIS
    • Power BI
    • Power Automate
    • Web application or software development
    • Web design and UI/UX design
    • Agile Project Management
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
