This role will provide technical data, modelling and reward support to the Reward Leadership Team by improving and documenting key processes and modelling techniques to ensure the team work efficiently and accurately. This role will also support the team to ensure that Centrica’s reward arrangements continue to be competitive to attract and retain top talent, support our business strategy, reinforce our values, drive a high-performance culture, are financially viable and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Accountabilities

  • Model, manipulate, analyse and interpret large complex data sets to support reward programmes and processes, draw valid inferences and present them successfully to the business

  • Use advanced modelling techniques to enable the Reward team to understand potential impacts of reward proposals and influence decision making

  • Support the Reward team to design and develop data management processes and policies

  • Identify areas to increase efficiency and automation of data processes across the Reward team, and work with internal Centres of Excellence leveraging tools and expertise outside the team

  • Set up and maintain automated data processes to support the various reward programmes and processes

  • Identify, evaluate and implement tools to support data validation and data cleansing to support the various reward programmes and processes

  • Document processes and train Reward team members to use them correctly

  • In collaboration with stakeholders in the business, develop and support reporting processes for the Reward team

  • Liaise with internal and external clients to fully understand data content for the Reward team

  • Monitor and audit data quality across the Reward team

  • Develop tools to produce and track key performance indicators for the Reward team

Competencies

  • Advanced IT skills (inc. MS Office Word, Excel VBA level, SQL, PowerPoint, Access, and Workday):

    • Must be able to write complex Excel formulas using if statements, h/vlookups, etc and develop comprehensive Excel workbook analysis, using “what if scenarios”, pivot tables, graphs and macros. Must also be familiar with managing large and/or complex workbooks and improving usability, and using column-based references in formulas within Table objects

    • Familiar with Power BI, including writing queries in the Power Query editor (using either Power Query M or the UI), creating complex data models, and using (DAX) measures to report on data across multiple tables. Similar experience with Power Pivot (DAX) & Power Query in Excel is also applicable given the identical languages and base concepts

    • Basic understanding of multiple technical languages (VBA, SQL etc.) and the skills to acquire proficiency in new tools (Power Query M, DAX). Knowledge of R-Script and/or Python may also be useful.

    • Experience with the interconnected apps of Office 365 and using the available tools to improve efficiency and knowledge sharing. Possible experience with building and publishing Power Apps.

  • Advanced numeracy and analytical skills and ability to work with large volumes of complex data from multiple sources and to interpret and extract insight in a clear and concise manner

  • Advanced communication and presentation skills and ability to convey complex issues succinctly and effectively to a variety of audiences

  • Methodical approach to analysis and great attention to detail

  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities

  • Ability to work under pressure, without impacting accuracy

  • Ability to develop practical solutions within the overarching Centrica reward framework/strategy

  • Strong intellectual rigour and an appetite for professional development

  • Good commercial acumen and broad business understanding

  • Ability to adapt to change

  • Track record of building successful, collaborative relationships

  • Strong team player and willing to support other team members when needed

Experience

  • Experience of working in a complex data role

  • Experience of working as part of a global team, ideally in a matrix environment

  • Experience of working in HR/Reward environment desirable
