Overview

We are looking for a new Associate MI Data Analyst to join our Settlement team responsible for the delivery of our Settlement and Imbalance functions across the British Gas Energy estate. Whilst we work across both the SAP & ENSEK supplier systems, this role will predominantly be utilising NEP data. The key focus of the role will be developing and providing analytical expertise and direction for the Settlement Manager to ensure British Gas achieves its Settlement and Energy Imbalance objectives.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing scripts and reports / analysis to support the team, in accordance with technical, financial control & audit requirements.

  • Through the analysis of big data sets, turning into meaningful information to identify opportunities to improve the British Gas Settlement and Imbalance position

  • Utilising technical software such as SAS, Databricks and RStudio, support with the implementation of new Settlement and Imbalance capabilities on our ENSEK Supplier system, including the tracking, forecasting and reporting of our processes

  • Root cause analysis of Imbalance and poor Settlement performance drivers

  • Support with the effective delivery of a compliant and robust solution for the management of Product Class 3 & 4 sites on our ENSEK Supplier system

  • Help impact assess the development of Market Wide Half Hourly Settlement (MHHS) and support with implementation on our Supplier systems

The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the UK energy market, specifically the Balancing & Settlement Code of Practice and Gas Settlement & Imbalance processes, with a robust understanding of the regulatory landscape for Energy Suppliers.

We are also looking for a candidate proficient in using Databricks, SQL, ENSEK Supplier System, SAS and R Studio. Excellent skills across Microsoft office packages especially Excel, and other tools as required, Microsoft Power BI would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will have proven ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret data to solve problems logically using a range of analytical techniques. They'll be capable of summarising complex data analysis into condensed content for a wide range of stakeholders and the ability to prioritise multiple deliverables.

Flexible Working/Location

This role will be Homebased with the occasional meeting in a Centrica office as and when required.
