About this role

This role is key to supporting and maintaining the existing data structures as we look to migrate these across to our cloud environment.

As part of the data engineering chapter, you will
Join with a team of highly skilled data engineers. You will understand and maintain our existing on premise logical data models as well as support their migration to the cloud environment. This will involve reverse engineering previously implemented structures to understand their current function. This is in the context of assuring data accuracy whilst ensuring operational continuity

What I’ll be doing – your accountabilities


  • Troubleshooting and maintaining the health of the existing data estate by setting up and utilising existing querying tools including SAS
  • Knowledge acquisition and application for existing legacy on prem estate along with an awareness of new cloud structures
  • Specification and creation of new data fields to meet current business need and liaison with 3rd parties to track their implementation.
  • Review testing of new data fields along with cloud based data structures.
  • Support of data engineers and data quality engineers with understanding the current data behaviour
  • Create innovative ways to help bring our data to life for our customers and manage their expectations as the cloud migration occurs.

You'll have the following skills & experience

  • Team player
  • Data querying & analysis skills using any flavour of SQL, with usage of a 4th generation language such as SAS an advantage.
  • Knowledge of data structures and the ability to enhance the data to be integrated across the business
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, for example, you will need to be able to identify problematic datasets and establish a root cause.
  • Experience in the visualisation of analytical data outputs on at least one visualisation platform (e.g., Qlik Sense, Tableau, etc.)
  • Good communication skills to quickly gain credibility with both technical and business stakeholders
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to changing situations
