Purpose of role
As a data analyst you will become a member of the Asda Logistics Services data future team who are responsible for the analytics and insight for logistics. You will be using the best in market analytics tools from IBM Cognos and Microsoft to rebuild and evolve our data capacities since the business separation from Walmart. This role is a Fixed Term Contract for a period of 18 months.
Responsibility of role
- Develop reporting within IBM Cognos to support the roll out into depots of a new warehouse management system
- Migrate our existing reporting off Alteryx and onto our new Microsoft Azure platform using tools such as Data Factory.
- Confidence to self learn numerous Microsoft Azure applications to evolve the data and analytics we provide to end users.
- Ability to write complex SQL to source data and transform into meaningful analytics via Power BI to enable end users to achieve KRAs.
- Gather requirements and data needs from end users then produce dashboards to solve these queries
- Gain an understanding of data available within the businesses to develop reporting and insight to help unlock efficiency within the supply chain and improve decision making.
- Learn the logistics operation which will help shape your decision making and what data to use and how to use it.
- Continuously listen to our end users and if our analytics isn't helping their decision making, change our reporting.
- Work alongside other members of data team to improve processes and share knowledge
Skills required
- Skilled in Power BI to connect to data and visualisations
- Able to develop Reports in IBM Cognos or similar software
- Be technically proficient in writing SQL
- High skill level of Alteryx or Data factory
- Ability to analyse complex data and to convert it into user friendly information
- Self-motivated, drive to identify root cause and identify solutions
- Ability to plan and organise own and team workloads
- Forward thinking with the ability to make recommendations
