The Data Analystapprenticeship consists of a 24-month opportunity to learn and to provide support to the Parking Enforcement team. We are responsible for providing data reporting and analytical support to the wider Parking Services team. Your duties will include supporting to create data reports, updating reports and using current and new IT software. You will gain an understanding of the work of the team and will work in a supported learning environment whilst working towards a nationally recognised Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship.
To apply for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be aged 16 or above and
- Be an Islington resident or
- Islington care leaver or
- Islington school leaver in the last 12 months or
- Be connected to Islington through completion of studies in the last 2 years (at any level) at an Islington based educational institution
- Not already have a qualification at a similar level or above in this apprenticeship subject
- Not have extensive skills or experience in this apprenticeship subject.
- Pass the course entry tests for example in Maths and English
- Provide evidence of: • 5 GCSE qualifications including Maths and English at grade C/4 or equivalent and
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent e.g. A levels, BTEC diploma in Maths, ICT, Computing or STEM subject
Interview Day: week commencing 20 March 2023
Apprenticeship Start Date: May 2023
The Job -Working as a Data Analyst Apprentice for the Council you will:
- Respond to customer enquiries
- Produce reports using data available
- Update reports using IT software (training will be provided)
- Investigate and respond to data enquiries
- Learn to use existing and new IT software, including Excel and Power BI.
- Complete a Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeshipqualification
- Study Maths and English if you have not already achieved a GCSE or Level 2 equivalent
- Participate in the Councils apprenticeship network and various development activities
- Have access to a mentor.

- Use the dedicated time given to complete studies and coursework.
- Actively participate in your own development. This includes carrying out duties of your role and completing coursework within agreed deadlines.
- With supervision to develop skills and experience in: • Data collectionand validation– responding to data requests, compiling data from internal systems, sourcing data from internal teams, external organisations
- Data analysis tools and techniques– supporting project planning and contract valuation, identifying trends, forecasting and modelling potential changes
- Data Reporting– producing data reports regularly to support service delivery, producing management information for senior managers and councillors
- Data communications– preparing and supporting to present data to various internal and external customers including the management team
- Building report templates and dashboards– Present complex data to non-data specialists, supporting the team with facilitating self-service of data reports
- Report writing– communicating trends and providing recommendations where appropriate; escalating data anomalies where required
- Support the team to develop and maintain information systems
- Constructively take part in meetings, supervision, seminars, and other events designed to improve communication.
- Use information technology systems to carry out duties in the most efficient and effective manner.
- Achieve personal performance targets, as agreed by your line manager.
- Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Council’s customer care standards.

- Undertake other duties compatible with your learning and development as required.
