Data Scientist
Glasgow
As a Barclays Data Scientist, you will support the tuning process and operation by providing support for the technological services used by the team and ensuring the development and delivery of high-quality data forensics. In your role, you will conduct analytical and development work, as well as collaborate with the Barclays internal technical teams to ensure continued delivery of the platforms used.

What will you be doing?
- Producing meaningful data forensics to support the delivery of tuning & list related initiatives
- Building and maintaining analytical tools through programming to generate insight, recognise patterns and predict behaviour
- Experimenting and identifying with various analytical methods\techniques best suited to data challenges
- Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
- Responding to ad-hoc requests and communicate the results of any analysis, trends and MI to a range of audiences whilst effectively managing your workload
- Suggesting and helping to deliver technological infrastructure concepts for more efficient processing across multiple technical disciplines
- Developing an understanding of Financial Crime preventative measures, systems, and operational processes within Barclays
- Supporting the delivery of automation initiatives in-line with the wider Group strategy
What we’re looking for:
- Good interpersonal skills which will be used to maintain relationships with multiple business areas, including Senior Leadership and Compliance
- Ability to manage and lead laterally and upwards across multiple discipline technical areas
Skills that will help you in the role
- Good quantitative and statistical skills and ability to solve problems logically and methodically
- Experience in data manipulation of large datasets through the use of analytical tools (e.g. Tableau, SQL, VBA, Python, R) and a willingness to learn new languages
- Good understanding and experience of big data technologies and the underlying big data approach
- Organisational skills to manage projects and appropriate timescales while delivering measurable benefits to the organisation
