What does this team do?
As a Cyber Security Analyst Apprentice you will gain experience with all pillars of the security team with regards to Security Operations, Infrastructure Vulnerabilities, and Identity & Access Management.
You will use the latest threat intelligence to inform daily activities and proactive threat hunts to detect and respond to threat actors. This role supports the lifecycle of identities from joiners, Movers & leavers, privileged access, service & robot accounts. You will use a suite of security tools to support L&G infrastructure for vulnerability management and support changes in the L&G environment for impact against security requirements.
This role will provide guidance and exposure risk & security assurance as well as IT controls and experience in 1st line security operational support.
The Security Analyst Apprentice will work alongside other security professionals with the aim of making Legal & General a harder cyber target.
What you'll be doing
During your apprenticeship you will:
- Provide support in response to security incidents occurring within L&G. Working in conjunction with the Security Operations Centre (SOC) service provider to provide security event monitoring
- Be responsible for the collation of security events gathered across sources
- Triage and manage security events as required to help ensure they are responded to in a timely and effective manner.
- Support in the collation and creation of required management information such as dashboards for leadership and application owners to help ensure that risk events and changes in trends are easily detected and reported on.
- Develop your collaboration skills by working alongside colleagues within your team and across the wider organisation to perform Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) access management processes to help ensure user access is appropriate.
- Provide support in conducting regular recertification reviews for user access to help ensure physical and electronic access requirements are update to date for all users.
- Ensure alignment to Legal & General’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) policy.
- Have guidance from your team and manager who will support you and teach you the day-to-day role
- Apply the knowledge and skills that you’ve learnt from your training into the role
- Be part of a big team and develop your collaboration skills
- Have the opportunity to meet and network with new colleagues within your team, but also across the wider organisation
What we're looking for
To qualify for the programme, you will need:
- GCSE Maths grade C/4 or equivalent
- GCSE English grade C/4 or equivalent
- An A Level in ICT or An International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT or A Level 3 apprenticeship in a similar subject or A BTEC Extended Diploma in IT (180 credits)
- To not currently be on a government funded training course, e.g. on apprenticeship
- The right to work in the UK and have lived in the UK or EEA for the past 3 consecutive years.

In brief, our assessment stages process will include:
- CV Application:
This will be reviewed to ensure you meet the basic requirements for the role, we do not require work experience for entry level roles and understand that C.Vs may not have huge amounts of detail at this stage of your career
- Video Interview:
This will take approximately 20minutes, we will ask some questions that will help us understand your motivation for L&G and the Apprenticeship we are offering
- Assessment Centre:
Comprised of a competency-based interview, group activity and an individual work based activity
- Provisional Offer subject to enrolment:
If you are successful in the assessment centre, you'll receive a provisional job offer, the final step will be for you to enrol on the training course. Once this is complete, we can officially offer you the job!
