You will join the Land Equipment Operating Centre (LEOC), more specifically Land Combat Vehicles (LCV). You will be working across multiple complex vehicles and systems, such as Mechanised Infantry Vehicles (Boxer), Main Battle Tanks (Challenger III), Future All Terrain Vehicles and Active Protection Systems.
As a Cyber Engineer you will be the subject matter expert on Cyber Security, assuring the cyber security of our platforms and supporting the Delivery Teams to develop and deliver capabilities that are resilient to emerging Cyber Security threats. You will review the design solutions and work with the Delivery Teams and suppliers to identify and manage the Cyber Security risks, providing advice and suggesting security controls to mitigate these risks to meet the Risk Appetite. You will lead on the development of a Security Case and the supporting documentation, including Risk Balance Cases, where the residual risk is unacceptable.
You will work across multiple projects and develop good working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including security Accreditors, Assessors, Customers, End Users, Project Managers, Commercial Officers and the Industry Partners designing and manufacturing our equipment.
We proactively promote continued professional development. If you do not already hold a relevant security qualification, we will support you in achieving one. (e.g. CISSP, CISM, NIST etc.).

Please note, there may be occasional domestic travel to other UK sites and the potential for international travel.
Responsibilities
- You will be the subject matter expert and assurance lead for Cyber Security
- Work with stakeholders to understand our technology, its operational environment and the Cyber Security risks that this presents
- Assess and assure industry delivered equipment and design artefacts in line with customer and capability requirements. Identify technical, supply chain and operational threats and vulnerabilities, quantifying the risks these create and developing, implementing, and monitoring solutions to mitigate and manage them
- Provide advice on residual Cyber Security risk associated with user experimentation, entry into service and through life, to customers and users
- Leading as technical authority with the development of a security case and supporting documentation and where residual risk is unacceptable, risk balance cases
- Lead on the development of new Cyber Security processes and future technical solutions, where required, to enable the MOD to make the most of emerging technology and to manage the risk in a changing threat environment
Person specification
To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
- You will hold a Level 4 qualification (HNC or higher), or be able to demonstrate the equivalent experience
- Experience with either cyber security, IT, software, electrical or electronics engineering
- Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.
