We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join a small team establishing the that is forming the Scottish Cyber Co-ordination Centre (SC3) capability.
This role sits within the newly established Scottish Cyber Co-ordination Centre (SC3) currently part of the Defence, Security & Cyber Resilience Division of the Safer Communities Directorate but will shortly move across to the Digital Dirctorate as part of a new Division.
The SC3 is muti-agency collaboration work together to improve Scotland’s capabilities to defend against cyber threats. The agency does the following duties among others:

This role sits within the newly established Scottish Cyber Co-ordination Centre (SC3) currently part of the Defence, Security & Cyber Resilience Division of the Safer Communities Directorate but will shortly move across to the Digital Dirctorate as part of a new Division.
The SC3 is muti-agency collaboration work together to improve Scotland’s capabilities to defend against cyber threats. The agency does the following duties among others:
- Coordinate the management and response of significant cyber security incidents impacting on Scotland.
- Provide additional capacity and/or specialist skills to support the response to serious national cyber incidents, including enabling cyber support agreements on behalf of the public sector.
- Be the focal point in Scotland for analysis, assessment and dissemination of authoritative threat intelligence, drawing on the NCSC and other authoritative sources.
- Lead on the development and roll out of good practice around exercising, particularly across public sector.
- Engender a culture of continuous improvement… lesson learned/actions from audits, incidents etc.
- Support communications & engagement across public bodies, private and third sector

The main duties
- advise on the protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and information systems.
- maintain an up to date understanding of current and evolving cyber threats and risks.
- support the gathering, synthesizing, analysis, assessment and on cyber security incidents, vulnerabilities, risks, threats and threat actors.
- prepare and disseminate intelligence and other analytical reports.
- gather, evaluate and co-ordinate responses relating to SC3 security and vulnerability exposure requests from stakeholders.
- ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of their information and information systems.
- be trained on and maintain effective knowledge and use of appropriate cyber security tools.
- contribute to the review of SC3 processes and procedures.
- foster and maintain positive working relationships with key SC3 partners.
- liaise with key stakeholders.
- liaise with Cyber Resilience Unit and other Scottish Government policy areas supporting colleagues on providing Ministerial submissions around cyber threat and risk.
Additional Duties
- on call Duty Officer for requests for support
- engages with the SC3 multi agency cyber co-ordination group activity.
- provides cyber security advice to management of small projects.
- participates in the development and delivery of cyber exercising.

No formal qualifications are required for this role however an Industry recognised foundation level cyber security qualification would be advantageous.

Essential criteria
1. Knowledge and understanding of the internal and external cyber security risks to digital systems and services.
2. A proven track record of troubleshooting complex ICT issues
3. Experience of Network Security or Systems Administration
4. The ability to analyse interpret and apply complex technical information

Atlantic Quay, Glasgow. The post is remote working with flexible working hours according to Scottish Goverment policy.
The travel to other Scottish Government offices or other locations required depending on assigned work.
