The Business:
Pickstock Foods Ltd is a family run lamb and sheep abattoir and cutting plant located outside of the village of Hartshorne near the town of Swadlincote in Derbyshire. We source lambs and sheep from around Great Britain as well as our own farms to supply to the domestic and export markets.
The factory is a five minute drive from junction 13 of the A42 and is located in a beautiful rural setting within the National Forest.
The factory and it's site was recently renovated and modernised in 2019-2020 following relocation of the previous occupants in 2014, and features a brand new state-of-the-art slaughter line and cutting plant.
Due to internal progression and expansion, we are now looking for additional skilled and experienced Butchers/Boners to join our friendly team. The successful candidates will be required to undertake de-boning lamb and mutton carcasses to customer specification whilst ensuring maximum meat yield is achieved. You will be working together with a team of butchers and packers. There is a discretionary team-throughput-linked bonus system which rewards hard work and teamwork.
The Role:
- Working hours are 06:00am - Finish (usually a 8- hour working day) with an early finish on a Friday. We do work on bank holidays excluding Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
- Trimming and de-boning legs, loins and fronts
- Sharpening and adjust cutting equipment
- Breaking carcasses down from whole to primals using a band-saw or knife.
- Following customer specification standards.
- Maintaining current yields and quality standards.

- Possesses the necessary butchery skills and experience.

Experience:
- 12 months experience using knives to process beef, lamb or pork.
