We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and experienced Customer Service Assistants within Cultural Services at Southampton City Council.
The successful candidate does not necessarily need to have extensive heritage background but a passion for customers and selling is a must.
SeaCity Museum opened in April 2012, after major capital investment this museum tells Southampton’s Titanic Story and Gateway to the World tells stories of people who travelled as traders, some settled here, others arrived seeking refuge. Our 400 square metre pavilion hosts temporary exhibitions that offers diversity to the Museum.
Southampton City Art Gallery opened in April 1939 within Southampton’s Civic Centre, it is internationally renowned for its permanent collection, which spans eight centuries and tells the story of western art from the Renaissance to the present day. The venue caters for families, with gallery trails through the exhibitions, monthly art clubs and a fantastic range of activities for all ages.
Tudor House and Garden reopened to the public in August 2011 after major capital investment in the building which included extensive restoration and installation of new state of the art interactive exhibition. The venue tells over 800 years of history to our visitors.
If successful you will be a key member of the Front of House team, ensuring our public venues operate successfully. You will provide a safe and welcoming environment and ensure our customers have an outstanding experience. The successful applicant will have excellent customer service and communication skills, and oversee daily operations within our venues, including ticket sales and working in the shops, engaging with our customers and volunteers on all aspects of the Museums and Art Gallery. The ideal applicant would have a working knowledge of customer service, retail & sales.

- 1 FTE Permanent (Sea City & Southampton Art Gallery) – 4 weekly Rota including some weekends
- 1 Full Time Fixed Term currently until 26th January 2024 with possible extension up to 3 months
- 1 Part Time Permanent 0.59 FTE
- 1 Part Time Permanent 0.79 FTE
- This post requires an Enhanced DBS check.
- For any posts that require a DBS check, if you have lived outside the UK within the last 5 years, you will be required to provide a Certificate of Good Conduct or a police certificate from the country/countries you have resided in. Kindly note that this is at the expense of the candidate, as well as any costs involved for translating into English.
