Job Title: Retail and Customer Experience Manager.

Responsible for: Coordinating retail activities at Wildwood.

This March saw Wildwood Trust celebrate its 21stbirthday as a charity. This was our platform to launch our rebrand and reposition ourselves to our audience as a global leader in conservation.

We are a forward thinking, fully inclusive employer who is at the beginning of a new chapter. To further this aim, we are currently looking for a skilled retail manager to elevate our shop and park to new heights.

  • Principal Duties

Overall responsibility will involve:

As retail manager you will lead by example. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the shop whilst working on the shop floor alongside your team. You will have passion and genuine enthusiasm for retail, coupled with excellent customer service skills and the ability to motivate your team, encouraging them to put forward creative ideas in order to maximise income whilst maintaining controls. You will have a strong commercial background, retail management experience and a full and clear understanding of KPI’s. In addition, you will be responsible for leading membership sales, upselling and gift aid conversation. You will be committed to making a positive change and be a dedicated team player.

You will also be part of a team responsible for planning park events throughout the year, co-ordinating the delivery of these events for visitors and members. This will involve working with the marketing and social media team to promote these events. This position requires excellent communication and people skills.

  • Skills, Knowledge & Experience

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

Three years retail management experience.

A full understanding of working with a CRM system to capture accurate records and visitor information, and efficient stock level management experience to ensure optimum cash flow and the right level of stock holding.

The ability to keep accurate and detailed records of shop performance allowing you to monitor progress and feed back to the finance department and directors. This will enable you to use your skills to make changes if needed to monitor productivity and net profit.

Have a flexible approach to your work, encouraging similar behaviours from your team.

Ability to plan effective working rotas that maximise optimum staff coverage whilst remaining budget conscious.

Confident in handling cash, credit card payments and gift aid.

Excellent organisational and delegation skills.

Be driven and passionate about working to and exceeding targets, encouraging your team to have the same drive and enthusiasm.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, to develop your team in all areas.

The ability to forward plan and think strategically, demonstrating a strong can-do attitude.

Be able to confidently upsell and to convert visitors into new members and existing members into higher level members.

Actively support all departments including marketing and social media team, to help achieve targets and to deliver an unbeatable customer experience.

Have the confidence to carry out tasks independently, whilst also having the ability to work productively and successfully with a team.

Demonstrate a genuine love of British wildlife and a belief in Wildwood’s Mission.

Annual Budgetary amount: £25.000

  • The post is advertised as full time and may require weekend and bank holiday working.

  • The Full-time salary for the Retail and Customer Service Manager, Kent is £25.000
  • Core working hours are 9.30am – 5.30pm with an unpaid half an hour for lunch. This post is advertised as 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. The job will involve overtime, including some evening and weekend working as part of your normal duties.
  • The pro rata holiday allowance is 30 days a year, this includes statutory holidays.
  • Appointments are subject to confirmation after a six-month probation period.
  • Wildwood offers access to a stake holder pension, details of which will be supplied on confirmation in post.
