Job Summary


Perform specialized duties in support of student achievement and success by working in areas that may include admission readiness, high school to college transition, and other special programs.

Responsibilities


Typical Allocation of Duties

Provide direct student services - 50%
Provide direct services to students to provide advising and support to students in special programs; to instruct pre-admission courses and assist with student transitions; and to provide other assigned support.

Coordinate with other student support professionals - 20%
Coordinate with a variety of internal stakeholders to contribute to the success of students.

Ensure compliance - 15%
Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, university system, institutional, program, and other regulations, rules, policies and procedures.

Prepare reports and maintain records - 15%
Prepare a variety of regular and special reports, including those necessary for legal and regulatory compliance. Maintain student files in compliance with FERPA guidelines.

Supervisor Expectations

  • Serve as primary academic advisor for the Master of Library and Information Science program:
    • provide guidance and support to prospective VSU students seeking admission
    • process applicants for admission
    • facilitate admission and progression for students enrolled in the Library and Information Science program
    • provide student success resources and support to advisees in programs
    • guide advisees in the requirements for program progression and graduation
    • work with advisees and the Graduate School to process withdraws, dismissals, and readmissions
  • Coordinate admission requirements for candidates entering undergraduate educator preparation programs each semester.
  • Assist and guide new undergraduate teacher education admits in processing pre-service certification requests to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  • Work with other staff with similar roles in the college to develop ways to better serve the needs of our students.
  • Work with assigned program’s department faculty on program recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Complete professional development in order to better serve stakeholders, as applicable to the job role.

Required Qualifications


Required Experience
Master's degree and two (2) years of related work experience.

Proposed Salary


$39,484

Conditions of Employment


Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
