John George is a family owned and run business distributing construction products into merchants involved in the building, fencing, roofing and agricultural markets across the UK. In conjunction with our sister company, Henry Shaw, our customers benefit from a fast, efficient nationwide service delivered from our own depots, on our own vehicles. This gives us the flexibility to meet the requirements of our customers, large and small.
We are currently looking for someone to join the office based in Reading. We are a close knit team, who are all passionate about John George, our products and the value we bring to our customers. We have a wealth of experience whilst also being adaptable to the changing requirements of our market places.
The successful candidate will report to the Internal Sales Manager and will be involved in sales, customer service, administration and day to day sales.
The responsibilities of the role are:
- Answer inbound telephone calls
- Create and maintain relationships with new and existing customers
- Proactively call existing customers to maximise all sales opportunities by promoting our products and the John George brand
- Resolve customer complaints
- Work with external sales representatives to grow your own sales area
- Follow up on customer quotations
- Take responsibility for the sales and gross profit of a sales area
- Other duties as and when required
The ideal candidate will be confident on the telephone and enjoy working in a team.
Equipment and full training would be provided.
There will not be any cold calling involved.

Salary: £23,000.00 per year
