The Trust Investment Lead is a strategic professional who stays abreast of developments within own field and contributes to directional strategy by considering their application in own job and the business. Recognised technical authority for an area within the business. Requires basic commercial awareness. There are typically multiple people within the business that provide the same level of subject matter expertise. Developed communication and diplomacy skills are required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers. Significant impact on the area through complex deliverables. Provides advice and counsel related to the technology or operations of the business. Work impacts an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family.
Responsibilities:
- The Private Bank at Citi (CPB) is part of Citi Global Wealth and offers a wide range of products and solutions, including investment strategies, banking and lending, trust and specialized services. The Private Bank delivers solutions to help meet the individual, family and business needs of over 10,000 ultra-high net worth clients around the world. The Private Bank is focused on clients with a minimum net worth of $25mm and serves 40% of the world’s billionaires and their families.
- The individual in this role will report into the Citi Trust Global Head of Special Assets and will be expected to oversee all Trust-owned real estate held outside of The Americas. The responsibilities of the position include the following:
- Conduct real estate asset reviews to ensure adherence to published policies and procedures
- Present asset reviews and management reports to the Special Asset Review Committee
- Manage risk exposure in trust accounts
- Review and approve requests to hold new properties in trust
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
- Significant relevant experience required
- Experience in and an understanding of the real estate industry (especially the UK)
- Strong understanding of trust/fiduciary oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, and execute sound reasoning and judgment; Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills a must
Education:
- Bachelor's/University degree
The candidate will be a member of the Citi Private Bank - Trust Special Asset Management team overseeing trust-owned real estate primarily located in the UK, but also located in other parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Primary responsibilities are to ensure competent oversight of real estate assets, conducting real estate asset reviews and submitting the results of real estate reviews to the Special Asset Review Committee. Additional responsibilities will be to manage special projects including, but not limited to the filing of real estate-related returns (e.g., ATED), assisting with the pre-acceptance review of new real estate assets, meeting with property managers, attorneys, real estate agents, appraisers, etc., overseeing large renovation works, and working closely with Trust Officers and Citi Trust's internal control partners in Risk, Legal and Compliance. The ideal candidate must have excellent organization and communication skills and be a self-starter.
