Job Introduction

The East Sussex County Council Service Hub and Print team provide support and guidance for over 5000 users within the County.

The Service Hub also work with, and collaborates with, Surrey County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council as part of a Shared Partnership delivering value to the public sector.

The Service Hub main priorities are supporting all colleagues within the council, ranging from telephone support, in person support and via our customer facing portal. This is a lively and fast paced team, with a focus on customer service and keeping the customer working.

Within this apprentice role for the Service Hub, you will be taught how we deliver our customer service and how we keep the customer working. We are very much a problem-solving team, working together with other teams within the council and collaborating with other services. Problem solving is not always easy, though we have a very robust support network within the team and wider council and the successful candidate will learn a huge amount of customer service skills and technical skills. We feel the satisfaction when we can fix an issue for a customer quickly and promptly.

The Print team are a small team though with a big focus on customer service and request fulfilment. The Print team deliver high quality prints using a wide range of bespoke systems and hardware and will oversee the running of the County Hall Print Room and Management of the Fleet of leased Printers and Copiers at various locations across East Sussex).

  • Good verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and organise yourself to complete tasks fully and on time.
  • Ability to use initiative to think through problems to find solutions.
  • Literate with good written communication skills and able to complete Keys Skills in Communication at Level 1.
  • Numerate and able to complete Key Skills in Application of Number at Level 1.
  • Ability to check for accuracy and give attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Able to converse at ease with customer and provide advice in plain English.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing and databases.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Self-motivated approach to work.
  • Good personal organisation skills.

  • Ability to answer, speak confidently and take messages on the phone.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
