Role purpose:
To be the lead CITB local trusted manager, influencing and enabling effective relationships at regional/local levels with identified employer accounts, stakeholders and key decision makers to ensure the industry has the skills it needs, including apprenticeships as set out in the CITB strategic and business plans.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
You will be able to Lead responsibility for relationships with Industry Bodies operating at regional/local levels to encourage them to facilitate careers work across partners and within their memberships. Encourage member connectivity with CITB and participation in skills training and apprenticeships.
You will take responsibility for engaging in high level relationships with Local and Devolved Government Bodies across a designated geographical area to encourage them to ensure that influencers and young people have access to information advice and guidance on construction careers via apprenticeships and other routes, and that employers and potential new entrants and apprentices can access matching tools and schemes. That they play their part in helping to establish local training provision against identified skills gaps, work with CITB to develop and enable new routes from Further Education into both apprenticeships and employment and as a client use procurement to drive uptake of new methods of construction.
You will take lead responsibility for relationships with identified key employer accounts (medium to large employers) to support and encourage them to get involved in making positive changes to working practices to attract people to the industry, involvement in leading and providing work experiences and other pre employment activities. Active participation in collective action with other key partners to address skills gaps and influence the delivery of apprenticeships. Provide information, advice and signposting to CITB support and other organisations support offers, tools and government schemes.
You will take lead responsibility for identifying and holding high level relationships with a range of key stakeholders and partners at local regional levels to enable CITB funded and CITB supported projects and schemes to deliver outcomes for industry as identified in CITB’s strategic and business plans.
You will take lead responsibility for high level relationships with local training provider networks and training establishment leaders to work with us to enable routes into apprenticeships and employment, collaborate on improving the quality and relevance of qualifications and their delivery. Diversify training delivery including content of apprenticeship delivery programmes to be responsive to employer needs.
You will share responsibility for decisions around support of employers and their apprentices, where it is appropriate to provide this.
About you
An effective Manager, educated to a minimum of A Level (or Scottish equivalent SCQF level 6) you are a creative, innovative thinker with a track record of encouraging others to adopt new ways of working with a wide range of different stakeholders and partners. You’ll bring to the role good knowledge of apprenticeships, education and skills programmes and knowledge of funding mechanisms. We expect you to have experience of managing and delivering on successful projects in a collaborative way. Experience of delivering inspiring presentations, organising events and business planning is essential. You will be able to build relationships and influence people at a senior level.
Frequent travel across local areas will be a requirement of the role.
