Technical or Professional, Non-personal Services
This Request for Quote (RFQ) is issued by the National Museum of Asian Art (NMAA), Smithsonian Institution (SI), for technical professional, non-personal services to provide on-site and virtual educational experiences to PreK-12 school and teacher audiences in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW).

II. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIRED SERVICES
The National Museum of Asian Art (NMAA) has a requirement for four Museum Educators for school year 2023-2024. Approximate dates for the contract are September 18, 2023 – June 21, 2024.
Approximate work schedule is 4-12 hours a week, Monday-Friday, and occasional Saturdays and evenings, and up to 5 hours per day. The contractor shall design and deliver field trips and studio arts programs for PreK-12 students and assist with teacher professional development events. A firm fixed price for service is $35 per hour and will be awarded upon submission of invoices.
III. Evaluation
NMAA plans to award based on application and interview. Applicants may be required to submit a lesson plan or demonstrate a sample gallery tour. When selecting individuals to provide these services, the National Museum of Asian Art seeks prospective contractors with the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, history, museum studies, museum education, studio art, art history, history, or equivalent (Master’s degree or Master’s candidate is a plus)
- Experience in museums and/or PreK-12 classrooms and/or with PreK-12 educators
- Familiarity with and prior experience implementing Project Zero Thinking Routines
- Prior experience facilitating tours for a museum, gallery, recreation/nature center, etc.
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Prior experience facilitating art-making activities for PreK-12 audiences
- Familiarity/experience with public schools in DC, MD, and VA a plus
- Knowledge of Asian arts and cultures a plus
- Local candidates, or willingness to relocate to DC, MD, or VA area
- Ability to speak Spanish and/or language(s) other an English a plus
Museum Educator candidates will supply a cover letter, resume, three references, a statement accepting the $35/hour rate, and other supporting documentation (see section VII of this RFQ). NMAA will pay upon acceptance of services and submission of a monthly invoice.
