Cumberland Community Officer
Salary: £27,882.00 (pay increase pending from April 2023) plus pension contribution of 9% (Year 1 – Grade 6) based on a 35 hour week.
This is a role which will contribute significantly to our ‘Wilder’ Cumbria approach to facilitating and supporting community action for nature across Cumbria. #TeamWilder is a growing national movement led by the Wildlife Trusts aimed to help tip the scales back in nature’s favour.
The Community Officer will contribute significantly to the people engagement activity in Cumberland with the purpose of involving local people in their natural environment and helping them to create a nature recovery network in partnership with the Trust.

This is about place-making and improving the places people live, work and visit. Activities that engage a wider range of people with the natural, cultural and historic heritage in their neighbourhoods will be a priority.
The post holder will be a key member of an integrated Community Development Team (including volunteering and education staff) supporting collaborative activity in which individuals, local communities and groups can take practical action together for wildlife across the County (with or without the Trust’s involvement).
Based at Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s Office, Gosling Sike, Houghton Road, Houghton, Carlisle CA3 0LD. Cumbria Wildlife Trust adopts flexible working practices. Some of the duties of this post may be capable of being performed remotely by mutual agreement.
