We're looking for a Cultural Heritage Curator to help and inspire our teams in caring for their collections and places. You'll share your knowledge and insight to encourage new ideas, and deliver an audience-led approach to engaging with our supporters.

What it's like to work here:You'll join a team of Cultural Heritage Curators who work closely with property-based teams to provide them with all aspects of curatorial support. You'll be part of a broader regional and national network, working together to provide joined up advice and support to help us care for and share the National Trust’s places. You'll help to deliver fantastic experiences for a wide range of audiences to grow support across a broad spectrum of current and future supporters. You'll work with a wider network of national specialist expertise and external partners to support the local delivery of the National Trust’s strategic ambitions across a varied portfolio of unique places.
Your focus will be supporting properties in Surrey and Sussex. We have a hybrid working policy, which means you'll be contractually based out of our Wisley hub, with some flexibility to work from home by agreement with your line manager.
What you'll be doing:Working with the property teams on all aspects of curatorship, you'll act as an agent of innovation and change. You'll shift perspectives and open new horizons, building our capacity and confidence to care for, understand, research and engage people meaningfully with our places and collections. You'll support better access and facilitate more diverse and inclusive experiences. You'll communicate the unique history and significance of our collections, buildings, gardens, parklands and wider cultural landscapes.

Who we're looking forYou will have:
- A postgraduate degree (or comparable) and significant knowledge across two or more of the following areas: history, art history, architectural history, landscape, archaeology, gardens/parks, nature connection, visitor/audience engagement, professional programming practice.
- Substantial experience of developing engaging and accessible programming, interpretation and visitor engagement across inclusive and diverse histories.
- Experience of commissioning, undertaking and disseminating research, including publications, where relevant.
- Knowledge of current best practice in relation to the care and management of buildings, landscapes, and collections. .
- Strong networks with a deep knowledge and understanding of the latest innovations in the cultural and heritage sector and experience engaging the support of practitioners, expertise, suppliers, and potential partners.
- Strong and inspirational consulting skills; listening, building trust, offering advice. Able to influence, challenge constructively and negotiate.
