Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.


Role Description:

The Cryptography SME reports in to the Cryptography – Technical Director. The role holder forms critical a team of subject matter experts with a Cryptography focus, solving problems, delivering and maintaining Cryptography Strategy, and technology direction, as well as managing the control environment for the Cryptography domain.

This work necessitates engagement with platform vendor security best practice experts and colleagues in ITID to operationalize default risk mitigating configurations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands on experience with cryptography environments in large complex organizations, with both on premise and Cloud experience. They should have demonstrable experience in driving Cryptography Strategy with measurable execution and experience in ebedding and maturing cryptography globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining a highly skilled and effective team of Cryptography subject matter experts focused on business outcomes and control effectiveness.
  • Working closely with various ITID Teams and teams across Cybersecurity to ensure complete and consistent embedding of native security baseline configurations as well as embedding of additional control from Cybersecurity Engineering.
  • Continuously improving the reliability, scalability and agility of Global Defence capabilities and supporting control effectiveness measures and reporting for other Cybersecurity stakeholders
  • Supporting the development of a “self-critical” culture, whereby identification of weaknesses in the bank’s control plane (people, process, data, and technology), are brought to light in an effective manner, and addressed through performing strategic assessments that analyses the processes, techniques and procedures across the HSBC mission areas.
  • Leads a customer-focused and collaborative culture by championing customer and stake-holder engagement throughout the team.
  • Supports the development of the Global Defence – Cybrsecurity Engineering and Oprtations Team, making sustainable decisions that protects and enhances HSBC’s values, reputation and stakeholder value.
Requirements
Essential Skillset/Experience:
  • Expert level knowledge and demonstrated experience in Cryptography delivery, and strategy
  • Expert level knowledge and demonstrated experience in architecting and automating highly complex analysis for identification, detection, and response.
  • Experience interfacing with technology teams to bring lab concepts to market within an organization and building effective operational models to ensure capabilities are able to be fully utilized and grow to meet the needs of the team.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with large, complex programmes, and deeply technical, global, expert teams.
  • A background in information systems, technology, architecture, design, and service delivery of defense-in-depth capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience of understanding and meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • An ability to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences, orally and in writing, in an easily-understood, authoritative and actionable manner.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across industry, academia and government to solve complex cybersecurity problems.
