Brief Description
Crossing Keeper - Grade 1
Controlling and maintaining crossing barriers, youll keep Britains railways moving and the public safe. Put simply, youll make sure passengers and freight get to where they need to go, safely and on time, every time.
About the role (External)
As a guardian of safety and good communications on the railway, youll ensure the safe passage of trains.
You will work on a shift basis. As the focal point of railway operations in your assigned area, youll be expected to take the lead in your duties during your shift. That means youll take command of situations, with an assertive approach and clear communication.
The role of Signaller requires flexibility as you will be required to work on a rotational shift basis to ensure maximum coverage of our railway. Essential Criteria
This role involves days, nights and weekend working and the job is safety critical. Offers of employment are subject to drug and alcohol testing and passing of the relevant medical assessment and BPSS pre-employment checks.

Our Drugs and Alcohol Standard is changing as of 16.01.2023. All prospective candidates who have not been offered a conditional role by 16.01.2023 will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
