Job description
We have an opportunity for a Crisis Management Assistant Underwriter to join our Portfolio Solutions team. You will report to the Crisis Management Lead Underwriter and will be responsible for carrying out all tasks relating to the Crisis Management underwriting and reinsurance of the Product Recall and Contingency classes of business. You will provide appropriate customer focused products and maximising profitability, whilst also bearing in mind the relationship between risk and return in respect of all underwriting activities across both Open Market and Delegated business activities.
The role includes responsibilities such as understanding, absorbing and adhering to the department’s strategy, objectives and current business plans, as well as having a clear understanding of the company’s risk appetite in terms of business plans, conduct and the company’s overall risk appetite. You will be expected to support the Crisis Management Lead Underwriter accurately and efficiently with the pre and post bind processes that are in place to deliver the appropriate rating, compliance and controls around the placement of risks. You will also assist with the underwriting in accordance with the Crisis Management Lead’s instructions in respect of premiums, as well as terms and conditions which are set to secure the planned underwriting profits. In addition to this, it is vital that you can identify and manage conflicts of interest, whilst also being aware of the relevant rules and regulations in relation to money laundering, sanctions, financial crime and bribery and corruption. Establishing and developing business relationships with the department’s intermediaries, agents, and business partners in order to secure business portfolios will be a key aspect of the role.
The successful candidate will ideally be working towards ACII or will show a willingness to start and must also demonstrate a clear understanding of the company’s risk appetites in terms of business plans and conduct. It is vital that the candidate is up to date on industry developments within insurance and the appropriate area of expertise. The successful candidate will also be meticulous, organised, self-starting and team player that can provide support to other members of staff and take ownership of customer issues when required.
