Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity to recruit to the post of Service Manager and Clinical Lead for the Adult and Young Peoples Eating Disorder Service across Suffolk. The ideal applicant will have a clinical background in Eating Disorders and broad experience in Operational Team management. We are looking for someone who can provide a blend of strong leadership and management skills with specialist clinical knowledge to drive service delivery and the ongoing improvement of the service and development of clinical pathways.
The Service Developments are being led by NSFT working as part of a multiagency alliance partnership which includes working closely with experts by experience, and from primary care, education, social care and health in order to meet the needs of the young people and adults with an eating disorder. The service has received substantial investment to develop the service and support service users across their care pathway in response to the growing demand. and to meet the needs of young people and adults and create clinical pathways. The new investment in both the children and adult pathway teams includes increasing the capacity and skill mix of the multidisciplinary team including covering intensive support, and packages of intervention and support from the third sector namely BEAT and MIND.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the Operational management for the Suffolk Eating Disorders Service including budget management, performance of KPIs, Human Resources and oversight of the teams functions.
To support and drive the clinical development of the service to expand the Eating Disorders offer in Suffolk.
People participation and collaboration with the VCSE are fundamental to our service model, networking and ensuring development, maintenance, and systematic provision of a high quality specialist service in line with NICE guidance, NHS England agenda and national and local policy are key areas of the role. The post holder will be a member of the senior management team of our care group and will work closely with the other service managers, psychological therapy leads and senior nurses in order to transform our services. Recent CQC inspection has shown improvements in the services which we plan to build on as we transform the Eating Disorder service following the recent investment from NHSE and the CCG.

NSFT in collaboration with alliance partners are striving to deliver a truly biopsychosocial approach within the ‘Thrive’ framework. This will require significant system changes across Suffolk to move towards a whole system approach.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To fully support the Senior Leadership Team with the strategic and operational planning and delivery for their designated specialist service area(s) within the Care Group.
To work in partnership with senior clinical staff, the People Participation Lead and other stakeholders to support clinical engagement and leadership of performance, quality, safety and service development.
To develop a culture of continuous improvement in performance, quality and safety within a designated area.
To manage each specialist area within agreed resources including support services (e.g. Human Resources, ICT), staffing and finance.
Responsible for the effective use of the delegated aspects of the team budget
The role will require effective personal planning and organisation of the daily workload and also flexibility in approach.
To ensure that their practice is patient centred, promotes the involvement of relevant others (eg carers) and that a high quality of care is provided.
