Criminal Duty Solicitor

Hours: Flexible FT/PT
Due to our recent expansion, we are looking to appoint a Criminal Solicitor to join their highly regarded Criminal Law team.
You will need to be able to quickly develop rapport, deliver high-level client care and become a valuable member of our team.
Main Duties:
- Representing clients at the Police Station, Magistrates, and Crown Court
- Interviewing witnesses
- Dealing with clients requiring specialist criminal law advice in person
- Ensuring all relevant information is recorded
- Flexibility to travel, attend courts, and work out of hours as and when required
- Dealing with correspondence and telephone queries, managing the client's expectations
- Providing written advice and drafting legal documents
- Managing a full caseload and ongoing work coming into the department
- Managing and supervising junior colleagues, i.e. newly qualified solicitors, trainee solicitors, and caseworkers/paralegals to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities
- Maintaining proper diary systems i.e. court and tribunal dates, limitation dates, and timetables set by courts/tribunals
- Servicing your Duty Solicitor Rotas
- Working as part of a team with all staff to meet our business goals
- Developing the department and generating work
- Taking initiative and responsibility for own personal and professional development
- Maintaining departmental standards, procedures, and policies
Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:
- Representing clients at the Police Station and Magistrates Court
- Strong advocacy skills ability to conduct your own advocacy
- Sound knowledge of Criminal law with at least 1 year PQE
- Ability to interview clients and witnesses
- Good client care skills and commitment to these areas of work
- Ability to work independently as well as being an excellent team player
- Excellent communication skills, combined with organisational and administrative ability
- Independently managing your own casework, liaising with clients, providing advice over the phone, by email and other mediums
- Procedural and technical competence
- Well-developed IT capability
- Working to deadlines, logically and methodically with an eye for detail
- The ability to build relationships with other professionals and third parties
- Police station duty accredited
- A full UK Driving license is desirable
