The Crime Standards and Justice Department is looking to recruit a Crime and Incident Validator under the management of the Force Crime and Incident Registrar.
Salary: £27,384 pro rata, rising to £27,849 pro rata and again to £28,500 pro rata.
The Crime and Incident Validation team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the force's crime is recorded accurately. This is critical to ensuring victims of crime are afforded the services that they are entitled to; that demand can be appropriately measured; crime volumes and patterns can be analysed and accurate statistical data can be provided to the Home Office and to the public.
The successful applicant will be expected to carry out daily reviews of data held on force systems such as Command and Control (Storm) and Niche RMS to validate the accuracy of our crime and incident records and where errors are located to take appropriate corrective action, thus ensuring that the integrity of our data is of the highest standard. The post holder will also act as a point of contact to provide recording expertise to officers and staff.
The role does require staff to review some reports where the circumstances of victim's disclosures can be distressing particularly surrounding sexual offences or agency reports involving children.
It is essential that the applicant has the ability to work to tight deadlines, deal with complex recording standards, be able to work unsupervised but also as part of a team and to be flexible with an ability to adapt to changes in legislation, recording rules and working practices. Communication skills, both written and spoken is an essential part of the role as you will be providing expert recording guidance and feedback to police officers and staff.
Crime recording is a highly complex area, and this role would ideally suit a candidate with previous crime recording experience although this is not essential.
This is a part time post (18.5 hrs) providing flexible working opportunities and based in Devizes or
Swindon.
