Buy It Direct (BID) is a market leading ecommerce retailer based in Huddersfield we are looking to recruit an experienced Credit Controller to join the Finance team in Huddersfield.


This is a full time permanent position paying up to £25,000 per annum dependent on experience.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage an extensive ledger daily, focusing on maximizing cash collection while identifying and mitigating potential financial risks to the business.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of our credit limit framework, ensuring credit exposures are in line with our group risk appetite.
  • Proactively chase debts through various channels such as telephone, email, letters, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Resolve customer queries diligently, working closely with customers and franchisees to ensure timely resolution leading to payment of debts.
  • Escalate issues to the team leader when necessary, highlighting risks and minimizing exposure to the business. Process final demand letters and county court documentation as required.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, maximizing cash collection, and reducing debtor days.
  • Regularly review debtors, aged debt, and customer payment terms while maintaining a customer-first approach in every transaction.
  • Perform due diligence checks on new customers, collaborating with the sales team to make informed business decisions on their viability as potential customers without hindering the company's ambitious growth targets.


Skills Required:


  • Proven experience as a credit controller
  • Commercially focused with prior experience of supporting profitability through effective debt collection.
  • Enthusiastic and driven to achieve cash collection targets and reduce debt.
  • Results-oriented with excellent organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Able to prioritise workload and liaise with multiple clients, even under pressure.
  • Identify and resolve barriers to cash collection, contributing to the resolution of day-to-day credit control issues.
  • Collaborative mindset confident in liaising with colleagues from all areas of the business.
  • A team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced Excel skills required, with the ability to adapt quickly to emerging finance technologies.
