The Priory Hospital Newbury set on the southern outskirts of Newbury and boarders with Hampshire and Wiltshire. Close by are the big towns of Basingstoke and Reading with the cities of Winchester and Swindon an easy commute. We have excellent public transport links to London which is just a 50 minute train journey.
We are excited to be launching an updated service after a period of expansion and improvements now offering a 34 bed Recovery and Rehabilitation service for men and woman with enduring mental ill health. Within the service is a care pathway offering a 4 bed flat for patients who are returning to independent living in the community. The site is warm and welcoming with a homely atmosphere, the patients enjoy home cooked meals contributing to menu choices at meetings with the chef.
We are currently looking to recruit a motivated and dynamic Creative Therapist to work 7.5 hours per week.
Applicants will be able to demonstrate individual and group work skills and will also have developed specialist knowledge of a broad range of techniques, relevant to adults with enduring mental health needs and ASD. The successful applicant will receive regular supervision and support from within the therapy team. You will work closely with the Therapy Team to provide an efficient, effective and professional service for our clients. In addition, you will be required to work in line with the Company’s policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be reliable, trustworthy and have a professional attitude to work as confidentiality is of utmost importance in this role.
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:
- Assess and monitor clients needs.
- Plan and provide appropriate intervention and treatment.
- Liaise with and take referrals from other professionals including doctors and other therapists.
- Maintain confidential records and case notes.
- Assist clients to understand and address inner conflicts through drama processes such as role play, story-telling, improvisation and script work.
- Enable clients to learn new skills and build confidence.
- Writing reports for CPA meetings.
- Attending short courses to keep skills up to date.
- Provide reflective practice sessions and support for staff as required.
You will have excellent communication and record keeping ability and be responsible for prioritising and managing own workload.
We are currently moving towards a trauma informed approach, by working as a team to develop collaborative formulations of individual difficulty and distress.
This is a permanent post for one day a week.
You will be required to attend mandatory training which may fall on a different day and also complete online training modules and remain compliant at all times.
The post holder will have a relevant accreditation following a recognised post-graduate Art/Music/Drama therapy qualification.
