We are looking for an intern to join the Play Invention Hardware team in our Play Discovery team (The LEGO Group's Creative Play Lab). Our mission is to discover new play by finding magic in technology. We are a multidisciplinary team of adventurous designers, makers, hackers and engineers. We have a thinking by making philosophy, hardware and software is our sketching paper. We design and build hardware to create experiences for kids across multiple modalities: haptic, visual, auditory, gestural, spatial.
Please note:
- We are looking for someone to start in September 2023.
- This role is part-time, 3days/week on site at our London office and for a period of 6 months.
- Along with your CV, please share a cover letter describing why you are interested in and a good fit for this internship, as well as your availability (start date/duration/weekly hours).
- In order to be considered, you will need to have the right to work in the UK.

- Inventor that is curious to discover new play in technology.
- Maker that can build interactive prototypes using electronics and code.
- Explorer that is fascinated by early-stage experimentation bringing technology together with creative concepts.
- Pioneer that can spot the magic in new technologies to create never seen before play experiences for kids.
Do you have what it takes?
- Currently studying Physical Computing and/or Interaction Design.
- Ability to visualize concepts, bring ideas to life with physical prototypes.
- Ability to design & build functional demos using Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
- Hands on experience with creative coding platforms (OpenFrameworks, Processing, P5.js, Max MSP)
- Maker experience working with workshop tools and machines (soldering skills, laser cutting, 3D printing, CNC milling)
- Basic knowledge using CAD modelling software (Fusion360, Rhino, …)
