Job description

We’re looking for a Creative Designer to join our enthusiastic, fast-growing team. This is a permanent, full-time role. York & home based (hybrid)

Is this you?

We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about design. You will support the senior creative team to create and deliver high quality creative solutions for our clients. You’re a self-starter and carry an unshakeable can-do attitude. You’re great at working on your own and within a team developing new ideas, concepts and designs, while instilling huge confidence in those you work with by being totally ‘on it’.

You’re resilient, with high levels of personal accountability and a drive to be exceptional – you’re not interested in average. You’re ready to dazzle us with your creative eye and design skills.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop creative solutions and translate them through a variety of channels – working closely with the senior creative team to produce creative designs that are of extremely high quality for both print ready and online assets.
  • Support projects from ideas stage through to final delivery.
  • Meet with clients and internal stakeholders face-to-face or over the phone to discuss briefs and build strong working relationships.
  • Work across a variety of campaigns on multiple brands – at the same time!
  • Work closely with other designers, editors and senior account managers as well as working directly with clients.
  • Use Adobe Creative Suite, in particular Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign to create distinctive creative designs.
  • Work with senior creatives where necessary to ‘sure up’ briefs and understand the parameters of the project before commencing work.
  • Act commercially, creating accurate costings and robust, realistic estimates.
  • Monitor costs and estimated hours as a project unfolds. Keep projects on track and flag any potential issues which may mean an increase in allocated hours and budgets.
  • ‘Own’ the brands and clients you work most closely with by taking an interest in every project delivered for the client, monitor others working within that brand, attend brainstorms and account meetings (as required).
  • Monitor and maintain server folders.
  • Stay current on industry trends – always strive to bring new influences to the attention of the design team and the wider teams.
  • Keep the senior creative team abreast of any account issues or potential issues within the design team. This should extend to highlighting any issues within the agency which may affect output quality.

Your skills and experience:

  • A related degree in design and experience in an in-‐house creative department or design firm is desirable but not essential.
  • Skills in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint), animation, storyboarding and/or digital capabilities.
  • Able to support/deliver brilliant conceptual ideas with amazing attention to detail.
  • Possess strong conceptual skills, high level sense of design, layout and typography, a broad thinker who is able to offer a variety of design solutions.
  • Expert knowledge in graphic production process.
  • Works well to tight deadlines.
  • An ability to take constructive feedback and learn and develop from this.
  • Strong creative, organizational, problem solving and time-‐management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
